Senior Estimator renewables solar

Position: Senior Estimator, Renewables Division
Reports to: Director of Project Controls, Renewables Division
Position Summary: The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing and completing solar PV and battery energy storage estimates based on written and/or oral discretion from project managers and Requests for Proposals from potential clients.
Essential Functions:
·         Perform all levels and types of estimating, planning, scheduling and cost engineering for project activities
·         Accurately perform material take-offs for renewable energy projects
·         Review, evaluate and negotiate non-inventory material quotes
·         Develop and maintain key non-inventory material vendor relationships
·         Management of subcontractors:
·         Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors / partners
·         Manage subcontractor database
·         Prepare vendor Requests for Quotes and evaluate vendor pricing
·         Understanding of power delivery, including substations and transmission lines
·         Understanding of all engineering scopes, including electrical, mechanical, structural, civil and permitting and permitting compliance
·         Train and develop junior estimators
·         Understand and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
·         Review and implement lessons learned to ensure estimating data is accurate and competitive
·         Research new products and installation techniques and develop cost roadmaps to ensure competitive pricing
·         Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications
·         Ability to operate in a high stress environment to provide critical project deliverables in the form of engineering, procurement and construction estimates with supporting documentation to meet milestone proposal dates
·         Understanding of shipping and logistics with respect to cost estimating
·         Maintenance of solar database, including vendors, subs, and take off items
Minimum Requirements:
·         High School diploma or GED required 
·         Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
·         10+ years of estimating experience in solar PV and battery energy storage and/or procurement of materials and services
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·         Strong analytical, organizational and negotiation skills
·         Experience with Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) estimates
·         Experience with MS Office
·         Experience with Accubid or similar estimating software
·         Utility and/or commercial PV experience
·         Existing relationships with Tier 1 vendors
